The foundation is continuing its program of local medical campaigns, and is organizing a major cataract and multidisciplinary care caravan in Jerada from April 14 to 18.
This new solidarity operation will benefit the disadvantaged populations from Jerada and neighboring municipalities in the Province of Jerada, known for the predominance of respiratory diseases, in particular chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and poisoning caused by silicone.
The campaign is implemented via two sites: the Provincial Hospital of Jerada where 250 cataract surgery patients will be cared for and El Amal, Jerada which hosts the multdisciplinary care caravan. A wide range of consultations and care in general and specialized medicine, screening and care for people with physical disabilities as well as medicine delivery is be made available to the people in the region.
The operation calls on significant human and technical resources and will be conducted in partnership with the Provincial Delegation of Health of Jerada, the Regional Directorate of Health of Oujda, the University Hospital Center of Oujda, the Higher Center for Nursing Professions and Health Techniques of Oujda (ISPITS), the approved medical association AMMS – Moroccan Medical Association for Solidarity, the Mohammed VI National Center for the Disabled in Salé as well as the local authorities. A team of 101 doctors (12 surgeons, 13 general practitioners and 76 specialists) from the public health services (CHU of Oujda, CNMH and Provincial Hospital of Jerada) and the private sector of Oujda, 30 nurses and technicians as well as 8 social workers is mobilized to guarantee quality reception and free medical care. In addition to the 7 mobile units and the pharmacy which are deployed by the Foundation, 4 additional mobile units have been provided by the AMMS, including 1 ophthalmic surgery unit, the Regional Health Department of Oujda including 3 units composed of ophthalmology, gynecology and mammography as well as operating theaters of the Provincial Hospital of Jerada.
