Developing pilot experiments to enhance social impact

Since its creation, the Foundation has tackled certain social issues that were marginalized or insufficiently addressed due to lack of resources. These include the schooling of rural children, the economic integration of rural areas and disabilities. Driven by the need for solidarity and action, the Foundation has set these issues out as priorities for action. In addition to providing support, the Foundation also innovates in terms of modes of intervention.

In the field of social action, it has developed a new approach including residential facilities to encourage girls’ education (Dar Taliba), integrated development programs for rural areas, an integrated support platform for people with disabilities (CNMH), specialized training centers, new branches, etc. Throughout this process, the Foundation has adopted an approach based on experimentation and duplication.

The Foundation initiates pilot projects and ensures their operation (establishment of managing associations, reliability of funding sources, regulatory framework). It therefore encourages other stakeholders (patrons, ministerial departments, partners, etc.) to follow-up and duplicate these efforts at the national or regional level.

Innovating, Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity

A constant drive to innovate

Building on its expertise and capacity for anticipation, the Foundation promotes solidarity and seeks to improve service delivery. It responds to the new needs of target populations and seeks out innovative action levers. Building on experience, it introduces additional actions and considers different levels of intervention.

This approach can be clearly seen in the area of disabilities. The Foundation started by supporting NGOs involved in this field, providing them with technical assistance, equipment prosthetic devices, etc. It nevertheless gradually realized that empowering persons with disabilities required more. It thus started providing social as well as healthcare and training services to the disabled in order to foster their integration.

Jointly with the Office for Vocational Training and Employment Promotion, it experimented with mixed-gender vocational training centers for people with motor disabilities. This pilot project led to the creation of a dedicated platform, the Mohammed VI National Center for the People with Disabilities (CNMH). This is an integrated care platform for people with physical and mental disabilities. It offers education, health care, sport and training services - for children and adults alike.

Subsequently, the Foundation had to address the challenge of access to the labor market. The Integration and Work Help Center was thus created through the CNMH. This model project offers a work environment tailored to the mentally disabled youth receiving training at the CNMH.
