The Foundation continues to hold community medical campaigns in various provinces across the Kingdom. Following the initiatives carried out in January and February in Zagora and Tan Tan, the Foundation is organizing a medical-surgical campaign to benefit the population of the Berkane province from February 21 to 23.
This new campaign continues efforts to improve access to healthcare, targeting the residents of the three municipalities in the Tafoughalt district (Tafoughalt, Rislane, and Sidi Bouhria), in addition to the two neighboring municipalities of Boughriba and Zegzel. It has been scheduled to complement the healthcare services of the Tafoughalt Rural Health Center (Level 2), which serves a population of 11,000 people from the 39 villages in the district.
The campaign will address various healthcare needs through general and specialized medical consultations, cataract screening, and surgical care.
The operation relies on simultaneous interventions carried out across two locations. The main site, is a multidisciplinary approach and is set up at the Tafoughalt center, located in a mountainous area 26 km from Berkane. A fully equipped platform has been established there to welcome the population under optimal conditions and ensure the efficient and smooth management of patients. It includes reception and guidance areas, general medicine and specialized consultation stations. In addition, the various mobile medical units of the Foundation including an ophthalmology consultation unit, dental care unit, biology unit, radiology – ultrasound unit and a pharmacy are on place. The specialized services cover nine specialties: gynecology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, ENT, gastroenterology, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, and dental care. It also includes biology, radiology and ultrasound services along with the provision of medication.
Cataract surgeries will be performed at the second site located in Al Farabi Hospital in Oujda. Shuttles will be organized to ensure the transportation of eligible patients between Tafoughalt and Oujda.
Thanks to the commitment of stakeholders in the Oriental region, the campaign involves a large medical team. This team includes the surgery team from Al Farabi Hospital in Oujda, 20 specialized doctors made available by the Oujda University Hospital (CHU) and 8 volunteer general practitioners supported by a paramedical team of 12 nurses. These nurses from the Higher Institute of Nursing Professions and Health Techniques (ISPITS) of Oujda are joined by a multidisciplinary team from the National Center Mohammed VI for Disabled People (CNMH). The team is further complemented by the Foundation’s resources, consisting of medical staff, social workers and technicians responsible for the smooth running of the operation and assistance to the population.
This solidarity campaign is carried out with the cooperation of local authorities, the regional and provincial delegations of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection from Oujda and Berkane, the Oujda CHU, the ISPITS of Oujda, the CNMH of Salé and his regional sections of Oujda, and Tangier as well as Al Farabi Hospital in Oujda.
For reference, the previous medical campaigns organized by the Foundation in Zagora and Tan Tan benefited 4,843 people, including 3,323 women, with 205 surgical interventions (cataract, general and pediatric surgery, circumcisions) and 8,720 medical and specialized services.
