His Majesty King Mohammed VI inaugurated, in the province of Benslimane, an addiction treatment center, a solidarity project that reflects the royal high concern for people in vulnerable situations suffering from addictive behaviors.
Carried out by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity for a total investment of 6 million dirhams, this center, the first of its kind in Benslimane province, is an integral part of the national program to combat addictive behaviors, implemented since 2010, in accordance with the high royal instructions, by the Foundation in partnership with the Ministries of Health and Interior.
The new facility, includes a social support and risk reduction center housing rooms for physical and artistic expression, sports and fitness, psychoeducation, IT, spaces for associations, conviviality and garden therapy, as well as a "mobile unit" office. A privileged tool for care, awareness, diagnosis, prevention and psycho-social support, the Benslimane addiction treatment center also has a medical facility including treatment rooms, consultations in general medicine, addictology and psychiatry, a space for group psychotherapy, two rooms for methadone users, a nursing station and a pharmacy.
The supervision of this unit is ensured by medical staff seconded by the Ministry of Health and composed in particular of the center's chief medical officer, a psychiatrist and four psychiatric nurses.
The creation of the center was made possible through a partnership between the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the Ministry of Health and the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council.
On this occasion, HM King Mohammed VI handed to the center's management association a mobile unit to be used for outreach interventions benefiting drug users.
