After the 2018 Ramadan special edition of the medical caravan carried out to the benefit of 26.000 persons in Guelmim region, Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and Phosboucraa Foundation joined forces again to bring medical services closer to inhabitants of Laayoune Sakia El Hamara region.
For nearly one month (from October 31 to November 26), a multidisciplinary medical campaign visited Laayoune, Es-Smara, Boujdour and Tarfaya provinces. It was deployed around 7 different locations and benefited to 30.000 inhabitants.
Organized with the participation of the health regional delegations and the 7 Moroccan CHU (academic health centers), the caravan offered multidisciplinary services in many specialties. This includes in particular ophthalmology, dentistry, radiology, ultrasound, gynecology, pediatrics, gastroenterology, endocrinology, rheumatology, pulmonology and clinical pathology. To that end, Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity has mobilized its 8 medical mobile units and an important medical and paramedical staff of more than 47 specialist doctors, 15 general practitioners, 12 technicians and 15 nurses both men and women, and officials from the Mohammed VI center for people with special needs in Salé.
This edition has been marked by the deployment of a second intervention phase related to surgery. Patients who had been diagnosed with particular well-defined pathologies in the first phase benefited from surgical treatment planned starting from December 2019 in partnership with the health provincial delegations.
