HM King Mohammed VI laid, in the Mers El Kheir commune (Prefecture Skhirate-Temara), the foundation stone of a Women and Children Community Centre to be carried out by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity for an amount of 6 mln MAD.
The project reflects the priority HM the King gives to improving the social and economic conditions of women, mainly in the rural area, and his will to provide them with means to emancipate and empower them in a way that would fully reinforce their position as a key stakeholder in society's development.
Built over 1,733 square meters, the future centre is aimed at building the capacities of women and young girls through trainings in jobs such as culinary art, sewing, hairdressing, and preschool teaching.
It would also support poor beneficiary women in setting up cooperatives related to income-generating activities, thus enabling them to have a stable salary and helping them ameliorate their living conditions.
Fruit of a partnership between the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and the Holding Al-Omrane, this solidarity-based project will be constructed within 12 months and will offer women a place for literacy, guidance and socio-educational support. It will also include a daycare and preschool tutoring for kids under 5.
Afterwards, HM the King handed equipment to around twenty people holding projects of the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region who benefited from the Foundation's support as part of its 2018 program for integration via economic activities.
Meant to support job creation and entrepreneurial dynamic nationally and consolidate the continuity and profitability of small economic initiatives, this program, which benefits underprivileged young people bearing projects, helped in 2018 create 305 micro projects against 167 last year.
This increase is also noticeable in terms of earmarked investments (25 mln MAD in 2018 versus 10 mln MAD in 2017) and the number of provinces and prefectures concerned (44 provinces and prefectures in 2018 against 30 the previous year).
This program, which seeks to fight poverty through financial empowerment, provides support mechanisms extending over two years and aimed at promoting the entrepreneurial spirit, strengthening the skills of project bearers, offering training and follow-up in project pre and post creation, and financing projects through the granting of professional equipment.
