His Majesty King Mohammed VI launched in the Sidi Hajjaj Oued Hassar commune in the Mediouna province, the construction of a regional hosting and psychosocial rehabilitation facility for people with mental and psychological disorders, which is set to be carried out by the Foundation for a total investment of MAD 300 million.
This solidarity project, which showcases, once again, the special care that the Sovereign grants to promoting the health sector, in general, and mental health, in particular, aims to support patients during the process of stabilization and recovery through cognitive remediation therapy, specific psychotherapies and occupational activities. Thus, the facility will provide support and care for people with mental health issues by offering them psychosocial rehabilitation services and tailored training to enable them to acquire specific skills, with a view to their social and professional reintegration.
This project is part of an action plan led by the Foundation, aimed at supporting the national medical sector by strengthening existing healthcare offer, improving access to care for vulnerable populations, and integrating a complementary social approach into mechanisms for supporting patients and beneficiaries. It reinforces the efforts made by the Foundation to provide assistance to populations affected by material or moral fragility, living in precarious situations or relative exclusion, particularly people with mental and psychological disorders.
The Foundation is thus implementing proximity support mechanisms tailored to individuals with mental and psychological disorders. Hosting, listening, educational and social supervision, treatment, skills development..., the Foundation takes into account a range of tools and levers of intervention, while ensuring alleviating social isolation, improving their living conditions, and promoting the empowerment of the target population.
The regional facility for the reception and psychosocial rehabilitation of people with mental and psychological disorders, to be built on an 8-hectare site, will include a residential center with a capacity of 396 beds, including 84 for women, and a pavilion dedicated to therapeutic workshops and training. It will house rooms for group therapy, psychology and psychiatry, sports, occupational therapy, observation and rest, hairdressing, professional training areas, and workshops in painting, music, and theater, in addition to a library. The facility will also feature a health unit with rooms for psychoeducation and therapeutic education, general medicine consultations, psychiatry, psychology, dental care, and observation. It will also include a logistics pavilion (kitchen, dining hall, laundry), an educational farm, sports fields, and administrative premises.
This project, which is expected to be completed within 24 months, is funded through a partnership involving the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, the Prefectural Council of Casablanca, the Provincial Council of Mediouna, the Casablanca City Council, and the National Initiative for Human Development-Casablanca Prefecture.
The facility will be managed by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, with support from the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family. It will add to the numerous efforts and initiatives led by the Foundation under the impetus of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, within the Casablanca-Settat region, clearly reflecting its comprehensive and diversified commitment to the well-being and prosperity of vulnerable populations.
