Following the instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, the Foundation has implemented a large-scale solidarity operation, The Great Cold Intervention, to help rural populations suffering due to the significant drops in temperature and significant amounts of snow recorded in the provinces of the Rif, Grand and Middle Atlas.
Two phases of operations have been organized in order to cover the needs of populations living in mountainous douars and remote residential areas in 13 provinces of the Kingdom. A significant human and logistical effort has been deployed in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior, the Department of Equipment and local authorities. This ensurde that humanitarian aid has been sent to the many targeted homes through 214 points of distribution.
Each household received a support kit consisting of food products (flour, rice, sugar, tea, salt, oil and powdered milk) as well as blankets.
The first phase of the Intervention which was organized from January 26 to 29 involved 20100 households from four provinces: Midelt, Khenifra, Azilal and Al Haouz. The second phase was implemented from January 30 to February 6 and served 46,700 families living in 9 provinces: Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Taounate, Taza, Ifrane, Tinghir, Boulemane, Beni Mellal and Chichaoua.
In total 66800 households from 955 douars benefited from humanitarian aid.
