Under the Effective Presidency of His Majesty King Mohammed VI - May God assist Him, the 2021 edition of the Marhaba Operation for Moroccans living abroad started on Tuesday June 15, 2021.
In order to facilitate the return of families and members of the community, exceptional measures instructed by the Sovereign have been put in place as part of the 21st edition. These include new and very affordable rates for sea and air tickets, the reinforcement of chartering capacities, the setting up of mobile Covid-19 screening laboratories on board the ships as well as a special assistance system taken care of by the Foundation.
Activated during crossings from France and Italy, this system is based on the presence of social workers on board the transit ships. The aim is to facilitate and streamline administrative, customs and health procedures, which are also available on board. In addition, the services of the Kingdom's Embassies and Consulates General will be actively present on the ground in order to facilitate boarding and ensure its optimal progress. They will also provide all the consular and administrative assistance required by their fellow citizens, and will respond smoothly to their requests and expectations.
The usual social and medical assistance services will remain operational at the Marhaba reception sites deployed by the Foundation in Morocco and abroad. This year, the Foundation will activate 15 reception sites in Morocco, Italy and France including a new site in the port of Marseille. The 12 reception sites operational in Morocco are located in the ports of Tanger Med, Al Hoceima and Nador, in the airports of Casablanca Mohammed V, Oujda Angad, Agadir Al Massira, Fez Saïss, Marrakech Menara and Tangier Ibn Battouta, as well as in the Mediterranean Jebha and Tazaghine rest areas. Abroad, the 3 Marhaba spaces are those located at the European ports of Sète, Marseille and Genoa.
A staff of more than 1000 people including the Foundation's teams, social workers, doctors, paramedical staff and volunteers are mobilized there, to listen to Moroccans living abroad, assist them and provide them with the necessary support and help. The accompaniment of travelers will be done in compliance with the instructions of health security and social distancing.
