Providing women in need with counselling and skills
Fostering women's empowerment has been proven to be a decisive factor in the fight against poverty. Since its creation, the Foundation has relied on literacy programs, capacity building and economic support to women as key levers of action. These programs are delivered through dedicated community centers, established by the Foundation in underprivileged neighborhoods in rural and urban areas. The Social Center for Woman and Child in Al Youssoufia is part of a network of more than 80 institutions across Morocco.
The Social Center for Woman and Child Al Youssoufia serves as a support and learning platform. It aims to help women acquire skills, while offering socio-psychological support as well as shelter to those in distress. The Center offers an environment conducive to the development of professional and personal skills. Women can thus have access to training in various promising local trades or activities through which they can generate income. They learn traditional embroidery, dressmaking and cooking skills. They are also given theoretical courses, particularly in how to start a business as an incentive for self-employment.
Promoting access to early childhood education
In order to facilitate mothers' access to its activities, the Center provides an educational space for their children, as well as those of other families in the neighborhood. Starting from age 3, children are admitted into a three-year kindergarten program. They have access to pre-school education and specialized instruction in a suitable, creative environment. The Center thus contributes to the blossoming and development of children's aptitudes, with a view to enabling families' overall inclusion.
