The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity has mobilized to deploy aid and humanitarian assistance to the victims of the Al Haouz earthquake, the worst ever recorded in Morocco. This mobilization started in the first moments of the natural disaster on High Royal Instructions from His Majesty the King.
The Foundation deployed their teams in three intervention zones in the provinces of Al Haouz, Chichaoua and Taroudant alongside the relief and emergency evacuation operations carried out by contingents of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), the Royal Gendarmerie and Civil Protection. The Foundation set about organizing and transporting humanitarian aid (water, food products, tents, blankets, mattresses, etc.) directly to the affected populations which are spread across a wide geographic area. To do this, the Foundation has set up two central warehouses in the cities of Marrakech and Taroudant in order to manage humanitarian logistics and the receipt of donations from civil society, private economic operators, public institutions and associations. This system guarantees the rapid distribution of aid to the affected douars. This has resulted in a reliable chain of solidarity that has been put in place. This effort was supported by the technical expertise and logistical resources of the local authorities, the National Promotion teams, the FAR, the Royal Gendarmerie and the Foundation's partners to access the disaster areas, to assist the populations in distress and provide them with protection.
